Who was The Master?
By Master Eli
The Master was K'un: Earth.
He was accepting and respecting of everyone he encountered. In every place he
lived, he adapted to its culture and habits with total reverence. He respected
the lowest belts of Pakua. As a First Degree, I marveled at the fact that he
would walk me down three stories to see me to the front door after one of my
daily visits. Even after I insisted that he need not do so.
The Master was Chen: Thunder.
With his loud and booming voice he bellowed his encouragement, motivation and
approval on or off the matt. Even during my last visit to him a few days ago,
totally weakened by his illness, he gathered some energy to make his thunderous
voice heard.
The Master was Sun: Wood.
He was penetrating and incisive. He analyzed situations with a sharpness of
mind that few can equal. The Master investigated situations thoroughly and
studied his surrounding with all his faculties. His interests were vast and
varied, ranging all aspects of knowledge, culture, history and religion. He
used all the information he collected in his daily life.
The Master was K'an: Water.
Able to change course, reinvent himself, adapt to his ever changing
surroundings. He never gave up, transformed adversity in to a strength and washed
away obstacles like a river. Time and time again, he taught us the same lesson
in a different way, a different voice and in a different form. Never stopping.
Always moving forward.
The Master was Li: Fire.
Burning bright and warming. He lit the path to so many lives and the fire in so
many hearts. His joy was contagious, his love for Pakua was contagious. Just
like a fire he always had more and more warmth and wisdom to give.
The Master was Ken: a Mountain:
Solid, reliable, dependable. He was always there for someone who needed his
advice, his shoulder to cry on or his teaching and guidance. In all the years I
knew The Master, he was always there for us. Like a mountain he was part of our
horizon.
The Master was Tui: Lake.
Joyful and full of life. He embraced every day and told us to live life as a
vacation. "Disfruit" he would say. Enjoy what you do and it will not be hard, it
will not become work.
And now The Master is Ch'en: Sky...
Energy and strength that will guide us in to the future. He has entered another
stage, another form, and from there he will continue to support and guide us.
The Master left us a legacy as well as a responsibility. Give your life to
others and it will be your own. Share your knowledge and it will become
infinite.
